"You have a remarkable power which you are not using."

Last night Spoons and I went to Chopsticks and had General Tso's Chicken...YUMMY! We also had egg drop soup and egg rolls...I was stuffed. Anyways, I got my fortune at the end of the night and this is what it said, "You have a remarkable power which you are not using." WOW...I wonder which one that is?? It could be anything...I am not going to church like I should be...is it my faith? I am not paying attention is class like I want to (especially in Telecomm)...could it be my intelligence? I have no freaking idea...maybe it is just a fortune cookie and doesn't mean anything...lol. It was just a good fortune to get...sometimes they do not make any sense...or they aren't really fortunes...hmmm. Well I am going to go do homework all day maybe I can use some remarkable powers and actually finish something and get a good grade on it.

P.S. Telecomm is my hardest class...I got my first hmwk back...so sad. But this morning I got my 2nd financial accounting homework back and I got 100% so it cancels out the bad one right?!?! Well wish me luck...these next few weeks are going to be intense. I have two midterms, a final, and a final project...plus 2 homeworks and a group assignment...is it Thanksgiving or Christmas yet...I WISH!

Carnegie Museum of Art & Natural History

This weekend was fantastic! Dillon drove down to see me and we went to the Carnegie Museum of Art and Natural History...they are kind of connected. I LOVED the installation art they had there. The exhibit was called Life on Mars and was so good (most of it). There was this one piece that was brilliant...the artist Thomas Hirschhorn did this whole underground cave/house thing called Cavemanman and it was so good...here is a quote from the gallery guide "Cavemanman is a sprawling, shambolic network of cardboard caves, a spectacular information crammed labyrinth of slogans and tableaux concerning Iraq-war militarism and martyrdom, sadomasochism, and materialistic greed. This unforgiving environment excavates and examines the brutality and consumerism of our time." Anyways, it was the one work that really spoke to me. There were also some pictures done by Bruce Conner, the Angel series. It was one of my other favorites.

The two pictures I was able to take (seen above) is of a huge prehistoric turtle (b/c I love turtles) and a white seal (b/c of my sissy...I thought of her).

After the museum we went to P.F. Chang's (always a great choice). Then we laid around until later that night when we all went out because Rosie was in town! I was so excited to see her this weekend...it had been since May. Dillon and Rose both left on Sunday...so sad. But I was glad to get in a Wendy's run with Rose Ann before she left.

Thanks for a great weekend! I enjoyed it.

Okay here are some pictures of the exhibit I found online...

Masquerade

Wow...I devoured this book. I thought I would be sadly disappointed but I am ready for the next in the series. I absolutely love the way the author describes the history of the vampires (fallen angels...Lucifer's followers when the split in heaven occurred). We still have yet to find out who the "Silver Blood" (a vampire who feeds off other vampires ultimately killing them) is and who is harboring it. I hope there is another one in this series already out and if not then on its way soon! I would say that these books are a read...they are easy to get through...light and fun.

Ticked Off Tuesday Again!

Okay well I thought this one would die after one time because this morning started off fantastic and my week was going great. Well it is Tuesday and it is now 8:30 p.m. and I have many things to be ticked off about. To begin...

I received two of my homeworks from last week and received low Bs on both...why is grad school so hard? I worked a lot on those homeworks and this is what I get?!?!?! Screw Financial Accounting...hate it! And I have a homework due at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow and I have been dragging my feet and so tonight I still have some time I need to put into it...blah. I am done with grad school and its only the first semester. And I know more is to come in the next few weeks...so sad for me.

Well last week I had a cold sore...thanks to my great family genes! I was surprised at how quickly it went away...just stress right? Well I must still be stressed because today another one graced me with its presence. Damn these things...thank goodness for Lysine pills and medicine from Mexico (thank you Terry!). Hopefully this one will disappear just as quickly as the last.

Hmmm...well I guess overall I just need more time...time to read...time to do work...time to go to class...time to go out...time to have fun...time to talk on the phone...and time to finish Arrested Development (so close but so far away)!

Vampire Obsession

Last week I finished Blue Bloods and although it was definitely not the best vampire book I have read thus far I liked it well enough. It took the author a VERY LONG TIME to get to vampires and some sort of plot. A significant portion of the beginning is to talk about the teens that are going to be turning into vampires. These teens are snobby rich NYC kids. After I pushed through a hundred or so pages I finally got to some vampire/murder/hidden secrets/mysteries. That's what I was looking for...FINALLY! I also have the sequel because I didn't know if I would want to read it or not (I had not read the first one). Well I think I will read it...I must know what the Silver Bloods are...she barely gets into those in the first book. I did start reading a little of it this weekend (only like 30 pages) but it sure is another slow start...in my opinion. It needs to pick up again...soon.

Well John had told me that there was an HBO show called True Blood and it was based on a vampire book...it sure is! It's the Sookie Stackhouse books I love...I am still waiting for the second one in the series to become available at the library. Well I was so sad I wasn't going to be able to watch it...too poor for HBO. But thanks to youku.com (a Chinese youtube) I was able to watch the first episode...love it...a little raunchy like the books. I of course get irritated when they stray from the book...but it doesn't seem to happen too much.

I am also looking forward to the Twilight movie coming out soon but I am weary since I do not like the actor/actress selections I have already seen. But we shall see.

Well I am so loving vampire books/shows/movies...keep 'em coming.

And I know some people are looking forward to Ticked Off Tuesday tomorrow...I hope to see others whining.

Ticked Off Tuesdays

Well Sabra and I are starting a little blog tradition...hopefully. Today as you can tell is Ticked Off Tuesdays. Hmmmm...what is "ticking" me off today. Well to start my nose is runny...allergies have kicked in since it has been windy around here. And I have a headache...still....Thanks allergies/weather!

The big thing that's making me mad is the rumor that the public buses (Port Authority) will be going on strike soon. How the hell am I going to get to school? Oh but that doesn't worry me now...what am I to do when it starts to get cold and snowy?? They better get their acts together and settle whatever it is so that my poor little footsies do not have to walk the two miles to my school. (Maybe dad could buy me a car for this side of the country?!?!....hahah just J/K-ing...we all know that would never happen) Well lets hope someone takes pity on me and makes it all work out so I don't have to stop taking the bus.

"That's one of the things that attracted me to you; your sense of right and wrong. I also like your hair and your face and your breasts." - Michael

I thought this weekend was going to be boring and full of school work...but surprisingly it wasn't! Friday I worked all day on homework, 6 loads of laundry, baked a cake, and cleaned my room...little Suzy homemaker over here. Then on Saturday I did as much homework as I could stomach, played Super Nintendo, laid around, and then went to dinner and a movie. I saw Traitor...it was good...like Sabra said "it makes you think". I say its a see...not a must but a good rental. Sunday I did all my reading...kinda...I took periodic breaks to lay around, go grocery shopping, and talk to Howard. Then for dinner Lisa and I had a little Mexican fiesta...tacos, burritos, and Coronas!! It was so fun...except when the lights dimmed and we thought we would loose power...YIKES...the wind was crazy last night...sorry Bex you couldn't really hear me on the phone. Well I finished a GREAT weekend with more Arrested Development! I love it....you have to watch it.

Happy Birthday Sissy

Sister's in black...always (even at June weddings)

Another birthday this week. My biggest sissy Sabra is another year older. She is a special person that I love dearly. She is not only a big sister (in the truest sense) but my best friend...I don't know of any two people who talk, text, IM, or email more than us (I have the phone bills to prove it). I am so thankful to my heavenly father that we are in each others lives, that we share a bond that is unbreakable, and that our love is unconditional. No matter what I do or how much I screw up she is always there for me and for that I will always be thankful. I love you more sissy! ~Just Joan

Happy Birthday Katie

Happy Birthday to my sister Katie. She is more than any little sister could ask for in a big sister. She is sweet and loving and for that I am always grateful. I will always have fond memories of her picking me up from my mother's house and taking me to the movies (sneaking in popcorn...even making Zac take a purse full in), and going to Papa San (who could pass up free food there). She always had some mixed tape (yes a cassette player...is that how old she is?) in her car full of songs I had never heard of but loved. She let me do and get away with things I shouldn't have but she was a fun big sister...like the time I drove her to Ross Corner to get her a soda and me donuts after she worked all night...how old was I?? Thank you Katie for all your unconditional love and support...I LOVE YOU!

Weekend Happenings...

This weekend a lot happened in my room. I went to Lowes and bought shelving and installed it in my closet. I use the term installed very loosely but nonetheless I did it. I also hung my full length mirror...which isn't as easy as it sounds I had to add all the hardware to the back to hang. My room is slowly coming together. My next project is redoing all the pictures in my frames and finding a piece of art to hand up on my one wall that is pretty bare.

Howard and I went to the movies today to see Vicky Cristina Barcelona....LOVED IT! Interesting take on life and love but I loved it. I would suggest it to anyone looking for a short little movie to go see.

Other than that my weekend consisted of homework and reading for school. Oh and I "deep cleaned" my room. Next I need to go through all my shoes, clothes, and purses and get rid of somethings. I have to move all my winter stuff up from the basement and there won't be any room for me if I do not do something will all this stuff. I helped Lisa clean out her closet this weekend and I will use that for motivation!! Wish me luck on all that next weekend.

Anything but LABOR

This four day weekend was great! (I don't have class on Fridays...haha) Friday I woke up late, went to the library, and read a little homework and the book I am reading for fun. Kirsten came over and I made Oatmeal Raisin cookies FROM SCRATCH! (We also looked at puppies for sale on line) That night Preston's friend Smitha came down and stayed with us until Sunday morning. We had fun Friday night going out on the town...showing her Pittsburgh's nightlife. Saturday I laid around by Lisa's Aunit Ro's pool...I will admit I did get a LITTLE burnt. When I got home I showered and met up with Bronwyn to see the movie Tropic Thunder! LOVED IT!!! We grabbed a slice of pizza afterward and then I went to bed and passed out. Sunday morning I went to church...my first YSA ward...interesting but we shall see how it goes. Then I came home and vegetated until 9ish. Preston had Bryan and Christine come over for "College Throw Back Night" it was a lot of fun. Then we headed out because it was a friend's bday and we had to make an appearance. FUN TIMES. Funny story...I put a coke in the freezer so it would get colder faster and of course I forgot it...so today I had to clean out the entire freezer because the can had exploded and it was a MESS...thanks to great roomies that helped it wasn't so bad to clean up. Today I did A LOT of reading for school...security info is already making me crazy...only another year and a half right?!?!? But Lia was nice enough to put together a dinner at her house tonight so we all took a break from life for a little. THANKS LIA! Well all in all this weekend kept me busy but it was SO MUCH FUN! Back to school I go...but only for three days (YEAH).
