RIP Oasis San Pablo

On September 26th Shawn and I were in a really bad car accident.  We were on our way to a friend's house to watch SOA.  We were pulling out of our neighborhood and our car was hit on my side.  Since I was pulling out into traffic it was my fault.  I didn't see her when I looked left but by the time I looked right and started to pull out she was there.

I do not remember much since I was knocked unconscious and it took me quite a while to figure out what was going on.  Shawn said he saw the car, remembers spinning into the other lane, and watching the police and paramedics try to get me out.  The car hit right where my front tire was, buckling the roof above me and jamming my door.  Shawn was knocked out briefly, had some cracked ribs, and hit his knee pretty bad.  The center console was twisted and thank goodness he had his boot on (from his surgery).  I think it protected his foot and ankle from what could have been a more serious injury.  We were taken to the hospital in an ambulance and spent the rest of the night there.

We are very blessed with great friends here in Maryland and as soon as they heard met us at the hospital and stayed with us to take us home.  Thank you Jay and Jazz!  Jay even drove Shawn and I around the next few days to get medicine, a rental car, lunch, and to see Oasis to gather my belongings before I signed him over.  The boys were even able to stay with their Auntie Dina who is always there for us.  This allowed Shawn and I to recover without having to worry about caring for them.  I know they had a blast at Auntie Dina's (they always do) and we are so appreciative of her willingness to always help.

We also appreciated the calls, texts, prayers, and visits from all our family and friends.  It has been a little over a month now and we are doing much better.  We are still dealing with some of the pains from our injuries but they should get better with time.

Funny story…

I only remember telling the police/paramedics I needed my glasses to see and my house key because I had dogs at home.  I kept telling them this over and over again.  I remember them handing me back my ID...I asked again for my glasses and keys.  Nothing.  Then before getting into the ambulance they said "ma'am here are your brownies".  They were still warm and still had the lid on them.  Not one crack in my pyrex dish!  So when we got home from the hospital at 1 or 2 a.m. we all had brownies and ice cream!  They were delish!

Willie Nelson

Crutches and all we made it to see Willie perform!  His son, Lucas Nelson, also performed, sounds like his dad, and is awesome!  I am glad Shawn got to see another one of his favorites before he is gone.

Hotlanta

I had to go to Atlanta for work and it was a really short trip but I was able to get tons of yummy food before I had to fly back.  I went to Houston's (the best kale salad I have ever had), Fat Matt's Rib Shack, Pig N Chick, and The Vortex (amazing burgers).

I wish I had time to explore the city but work and the short amount of time usually makes it hard.  I was able to get Shawn his 12 Krystal burgers at the airport right before my flight (no, I didn't get him 24 this time).

Stay at Home...

Shawn had surgery on the 6th of September.  I was able to work from home for the week to help him with things.  I will tell you what - I had a rough week :).  He did well and we were happy everything went great.  I knew he was in extreme pain though when he had me sell the Jason Aldean tickets…it was the one concert her was really looking forward to all summer.  Next time I guess!

Chuy was worried about his daddy…so cute.  Walter is hiding in there too.

Since the cast has come off Chuy has been doctoring Shawn's wounds constantly.  It was cute to see how concerned the boys were when their daddy came home from the hospital.

Walter's 4th Birthday

W turned 4 - his age is slowly catching up to his old soul personality.  We had a small family party (always for second child) with Uncle Zach.  I decided to make a different treat with honey and it went over well.  The grownups had brownies and ice cream.  I think Walter was more interested in those.

And as always, Chuy was mad he wasn't the center of attention.
