The "D" Word

I started applying to internships for this summer and decided I needed to get some boring business suits of my own (can't always borrow one). I of course love buying business pants, it is always fun to dress up; however suit jackets are not so fun...I always feel way too old lady-ish. Oh well right, everyone HAS to wear them when interviewing.

After I bought them I thought...with the job market as crumby as it is, do I really need these suits? How many interviews will I be going on and will anyone hire me at a time like this? I am so nervous about getting a "real" job with an economy like ours. I know all this worry is coming from talking to my mother, who loves to tell me how the US is going to go into a depression (the "D" word I beg her not to mention) and we must be prepared. I hope she is wrong...I hope it doesn't get too bad...and I hope I can get an internship and eventually a job when I graduate. YIKES!

I should just stop being a worry wart and just got to bed...

Winded and Out of Shape

Tonight IM basketball started at school; so all the guys (and me) got together and made up a team. It was fun to play even though it has been almost a year since I have actually "played". We didn't win...but what do you expect from a bunch of computer nerds...but we weren't too far behind either. I am sure we will do much better the next few games.

My one resolution this year was to work out more and I have been...four times a week. But man, I am obviously not pushing myself like I use to. Tonight I was winded and now I have a crappy cough...damn asthma. Nonetheless I had a great time...beats being at home!

Oh and I totally broke a resolution today...I had a soda. I was dying of thirst and I didn't bring a water bottle with me, so I went down to the vending machines and the only one with water wasn't accepting bills and I didn't have $1.25 in quarters. So I ran upstairs found the only other machine that has water and I put my money in and pressed the button...sold out...so I just got a Root Beer and called it a night. Oh well for slipping once...its just soda right?

...And do people last long with their resolutions???

Revelations

Although this is a teen fiction novel the author had the best idea for the history of vampires and where they come from and their culture...way better than Twilight and the Sookie Stackhouse novels. I wish the book was a little more meatier...not written for the teen crowd but more for adults...I probably would give it much more praise. Nonetheless I will be eagerly waiting for the fourth book to come out in August.

All Together Dead

Another one down and FINALLY only one more to go. Before I start reading the last book of the Sookie Stackhouse series I am taking a break and reading the third novel in the Blue Bloods series. After these two books I will have completed three vampire series (although I am certain there are more books to come in both series)...what should I move on to next while I wait? Stephanie Meyer better get started on the sequel to The Host.

Any suggestions?? It doesn't have to be about vampires.

Tampa and Crystal River

This last week John and I went to Tampa and Crystal River to swim with the manatees. It was fantastic...a great experience. They were such sweet "little" animals. The babies would chase you if you stopped tickling them. After the manatees we went to the wildlife park and the zoo. Here are some pictures from our trip. When we weren't looking at animals we were relaxing watching television, movies, reading, and playing Wii.

The day I flew back into Phoenix I got to meet my niece Amanda for the first time...she is SO beautiful...and quiet, she slept the whole time.

"I cannot sleep unless I am surrounded by books" -Borges

This trip to Tampa was about swimming with the manatees and it was great...it is amazing to swim along side something so peaceful. However there will be another blog about my manatee experience when I get the pictures developed. During the other time here in Tampa I have been relaxing watching t.v., movies, and reading books that have been on my list (I know I will have no time when school starts again). I was trying to race through the Sookie Stackhouse novels and I have been flying through them...while here I have read books 5 & 6 and plan to read 7. However my sister Katie gave me a book for Christmas right before I flew here so I had it with me and it was a book that I had wanted to read but never got around to it. Instead of starting book 7 this evening I sat down and started reading my book from Katie. I could not put it down...ok that is a lie I had to watch Superstars of Dance...but I read during the commercials. I loved ever page of the book and I bawled throughout the book...yes Sabra I am not a cold-hearted beast like you might think. I really cannot put words down about how I felt while reading but it moved me in so many different ways...touching me in all aspects of my life. I encourage everyone to read it...it will take you less than a day (approx. 200 pages). The book is The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch...thank you Katie!

New Year's Resolutions

Resolutions aren't really my thing and when I do occasionally make one I almost never stick to it. However this year I want it to be much different. I want to make a few reasonable resolutions and actually keep them. To begin...

1. Working out...put it into my daily schedule and actually RUN a few times a week
2. Journal...I blog constantly but you can only get so personal, I want to write down my thoughts and feeling...things that I wouldn't let anyone read but want to remember always
3. NO Soda...not for caffeine reasons but for what it is doing to my teeth (sugar is bad)...Brett convinced me that NO MORE SODAS was a good thing for my dental health

Well, as for now that is it...I hope that these few things can be accomplished. We shall see...
