Eathan Mao III

This morning I found Eathan Mao III (my beta fish) on the floor. He committed suicide by jumping. I may have filled his bowl up too close to the top or he couldn't stand that we got a new beta (that was much fancier). Anyway, I know he is just a beta but I was still a little sad. Thanks Heyward for taking care of the body!

Was the new fish in the same vase? If so, perhaps the new, fancier beta "got rid of" Eathan Mao III. Or perhaps it is a mystery that will never be solved. :)

Why?! Why would he take his own life? What was so terrible? Did he not think of those he would be leaving behind before he did this? How inconsiderate! Now, you are going to spend the rest of your life questioning your worth because he had to go and take his own life? Were you not worth sticking around for? SelFISH fish.

Oh, I am so sorry for your loss! We had a female beta named B-Lue...she attempted to commit suicide too...luckily Heidi was close by and yelled, "B-Lue has jumped out of her tank!" She then quickly scooped her up and no damage was done! B'Lue lived 2 1/2 years after the incident...thank goodness Heidi was there.
Just remember, it wasn't your fault.
