This weekend Kirsten and Franklin made the hike down from Pittsburgh for a weekend of food, fun, and friends! We enjoyed all our favorite activities: puppy madness, Mexican food, DQ, shopping, Rummikub, baked goods, Billy and Joey, Thai food, movies, cuddling, more shopping, quick work out, tanning, and good conversation. I couldn't ask for a better weekend! Thanks!!

Another Plateau
The past few weeks I have been on a high, constantly going up and feeling good. However, the past week or so I have been just getting along, not having those same feelings. What is wrong with me? (I partially blame the weather)
I am still working out, always good; but I started eating crap food again! Why is sugar so hard to give up? I gave up all my other vices without a second thought...BUT SUGAR IS MY PROBLEM!?!?! I need help ASAP.
So I thought...when was the last time I did a diet that really work, wasn't super restrictive on how much I ate, and something I could actually do and not want to slit my wrists. I would have to say it was one I did in high school during track season (AKA my track diet). It is basically a list of things you cannot eat based on what you usually eat. Here it is...
No...
fried food
candy/desserts (sugar)
soda
cheese
pickles
carne asada
milk (one glass a day)
I am hoping this will help cleanse my body, jump start me, and give me the energy I am lacking!
OH, I am also going to go to bed at a reasonable hour so I get the sleep I need!

You Spin Me Right Round, Baby
So every one makes fabulous goals for the new year and some stick to them and some do not. I am usually the do not type. I mean just because its January doesn't motivate me any more or less than when its say August. So last year (nov/dec) I decided that if I was going to do the whole eat better/work out more thing that I needed to start before January so that it was something I was doing and not a New Years Resolution. I am not sure if that makes sense or not but you get the point.
Well I started slow and had some breaks because of the holiday but I can say that I am a solid 10 lbs lighter (15 on a good day) than I was when I started. I am back to high school weight!!! I have cut out A LOT of sugar from my diet (the hardest thing I've ever had to give up) and I am exercising WAY more. I have turned into one of those workout nuts! But I am enjoying it.
I did Zumba the past few months and loved it. But I wanted something new so I decided spinning was next. I started last Friday, have gone to three classes, and I am absolutely ADDICTED! I hope to stay strong for the month and kick my working out in to high gear. I want to look forward to swimsuit season this year instead of dreading it like I do every other year.
I wish everyone luck in their endeavors to stay true to their goals and accomplish them! My sister Katie has been blogging about her transformation and it has given me the kick in the booty to not only be a healthier but a MUCH HAPPIER me!!!

The IQ F* You
This Christmas I decided to get the boys learning toys. Toys that would give them a mental exercise as well as dispense delicious treats. I decided on the busy buddy block for each one, the tricky treat ball for one, and the IQ ball for the other. Both balls are to be filled with treats and then once the dog rolls them around whala a treat is given for the efforts made.
**Please note that the learning level on the IQ ball is brilliant. I have high expectations.
Well the blocks went over well; the treats are easy and it occupies them forever. The tricky treat ball is also a favorite; Chuy has the patience to get the treats out, Walter not so much. The IQ ball hasn't really gone over so well. The treats are placed in the side where they can not be seen. Then you lay a disc with an opening in the middle of the ball and screw on the top part which is clear. The dog must roll the ball to get the treat from the hidden side to the clear side. Then roll some more to finally get it out. Well...
The boys can get the treat from one side of the ball to the other but once they see it they go nuts and don't understand that they must continue to roll and get it through another opening before devouring it. Oh well I just left it in their kennel so that while I am gone during the day maybe they will have a stroke of genius and finally figure it out.
This is what I came home to last night.
I am certain Chuy decided that rolling each treat out one at a time was not worth the effort and instead unscrewed the ball, removed the disc, and enjoyed all his treats at once! All the while thinking "F* you IQ ball".
Now that my friends is a learning level far beyond brilliant.
